Dear Journal,

For all those people who say little babies don't smile...take a look at this! I was super happy during this photo shoot!

Look at me, three weeks old already!

Dear Journal,

After my Aunt and Uncle left for the Indy 500 and daddy went to work, mommy dressed me up in my cute bug outfit from Jimmy and Rob.  Mommy took a picture and said it's one of her favorites! We may use it for my birth announcement.

When daddy got home from work today he and mommy decided it would be time for my first bath in the sink!  I wasn't too sure about it, but I didn't cry.

Then when I got out of that water I was FREEZING! My parents made me all warm and cozy and laid me on the kitchen counter. I loved looking up at the lights!

That bath sure wore me out! (and made my hands cold!) Time for a Sunday siesta!

Dear Journal,

Woo Hoo! More family! Today I got to meet Uncle Chris and Aunt Mindy. They came down to Indianapolis for the Indy 500 (and to see me, of course!) They got to our house while daddy was at work. Uncle Chris wanted to take us all to his favorite restaurant, La Bambas! They had burritos as big as a baby!

After lunch we went to Aunt Amy and Uncle Pat’s house and I got to meet Thomas, Bradley, and Megan (my cousins!). It was lots of fun.

Then we went back and had a barbeque when daddy got home from work. Uncle Chris and Aunt Mindy could not believe what a good baby I am. It sure was fun to meet them! Uncle Chris is kind of crazy though, he tried to play me like a guitar while he sang creepy music!

Dear Journal,

It was a crazy day at our house today! Mommy is super happy because we finally have internet!!! The people were supposed to arrive sometime this morning, but of course they didn’t arrive until later.

I finally got to meet the dinnertime divas that mommy has been talking about! They had their monthly get together at our house so everyone could meet me! Of course they arrived the same time the AT & T guys did. So there were divas, workmen, and barking dogs all around! It was a very loud, but very fun afternoon. The divas left and the workmen were still there for another hour. Finally about 7pm we got some peace and quiet. Mommy said I was a little angel the whole day...I try!

Dear Journal,

Guess what? I wore my first dress today. It was cute. I think mommy should dress me up more often!

Dear Journal,

I'm two weeks old today! My mom knew I was way too good last week when I took my one week photo.  Needless to say, my weekly photo shoot was a little rough today...mommy and daddy finally settled for a pacifier shot!

Dear Journal,

So mommy and daddy have been doing this tummy time thing with me. I don’t like it that much, but I’ll do it for about 5 minutes. Mommy seems to think tummy time means photo session!

Today it was very hot outside, but I braved the weather so we could go to a graduation party! Jenny and Katy are going to babysit me sometimes, so I went to their house to celebrate them graduating high school. It was fun, but it was so hot that we couldn’t stay long. I looked cute though! I even wore my first bow in my hair!

After the party mommy and daddy went to panera so they could use the internet to watch Lost before the series finale!  I ate a bottle and slept.

Dear Journal,

Today mommy and daddy kept telling me about something called their “anniversary”. That’s a big word for a little baby like me, but they said it meant that they got married six years ago today. That’s pretty cool. They said it was extra special this year because I was here!

Daddy made mommy a special dinner with filet and risotto.

They also celebrated with a bottle of mommy’s favorite wine…the first time she has had a glass in almost 10 months!

Enjoy mommy, you deserve it!

Dear Journal,

This morning I woke up and got to see Aunt Kathy again! I even got to meet her friend Ken for a few minutes. Then mommy said it was time for our first outing alone…the license branch! Mommy said if we didn’t go today our license plates would expire. I’m not sure what that means, but it didn’t sound good! I decided to behave for mommy and our first time out together went really well. It’s fun spending time with her outside of the house! We did so well that she even splurged and got some McDonald’s for lunch on the way home.

Dear Journal,

Today mommy got to get out of the house! We went next door and got to go to our neighbor’s house for a little bit. I got to meet Kristen and Macy for the first time (I met Jeremy and McKenna already). It was fun to take a short walk down the sidewalk and suddenly be somewhere else!

Then, in the afternoon I got to meet another one of my aunts! Aunt Kathy came from Michigan to come see me. We went out for dinner at a Mexican restaurant and then we came back to the house to get to know each other better.

She loved holding me. I wore my cute ducky pajamas and she held me until it was time to go to bed.

I love her so much!

Dear Journal,

I am now one week and one day old! I got to go see Dr. Roscoe today to show him how much I have grown in one week. Guess what? Today I weighed 7lbs 8oz.

I was 6lbs 11oz when I left the hospital which means I gained 13 oz. in one week. Dr. Roscoe was proud of me and said I was doing so well he didn't have to see me until I was 2 months old.

(me and daddy at the doctor's office)

Then, tonight daddy gave me my first bottle! I just loved him holding me and feeding me (so did he!). I didn’t even flinch at the bottle, I took it all down like a champ! I hope he feeds me a lot. It’s nice snuggling with him!

Dear Journal,

I got to go to my first restaurant today! We went to Panera this morning so mommy and daddy could use the internet. You see, the internet at our house stopped working a few days ago and mommy is very upset about it. She says there are so many things she needs to do online like pay bills, get my insurance plans all figured out, and lots of other important stuff. She hasn’t been emotional about me, but man, this no internet thing is pushing her over the edge. We were at Panera and they were finally able to sign into the page they needed to sign me up for insurance and POOF! Panera’s internet went out, too. Mommy started crying. She was laughing too and said it was the hormones. Poor mommy (and poor daddy for having to deal with mommy)!

This afternoon I just lounged around and cuddled with my parents and my puppies. I am wearing the dogs out...check out Bartok yawning!

Then tonight they gave me my first bath! I didn’t know what was going on, and they kept saying what a great job I was doing. I was just laying there letting them wash me up. Then they wrapped me all up in a comfy towel when they were done. I think I’m going to like baths!

Oh yeah, I am one week old today! Mommy and daddy said they are going to take my picture in the same spot every week so we can see how much I grow and change. So it looks like I’ll get dressed up for a mini photo shoot every Monday. How fun is that?

Dear Journal,

Today was a sad day…daddy had to go back to work for the first time since I was born. Luckily he didn’t have to go in until the afternoon so he got to cuddle me lots in the morning. I even wore my special daddy bib so he didn't forget how much I loved him.

Just when I was starting to feel sad that he was going to leave we got a knock on the door. Grandma and Grandpa Lister came to keep mommy and me company while daddy was gone. How fun is that?

Grandma loved holding me and talking to me in a quiet voice.

Grandpa said it was learning time and taught me that the Minnesota Vikings are the greatest team in sports franchise history.

I don’t know about that, but he insisted that I listen to him.

He’s going to be a fun guy to visit, even if I have to listen about the Vikings.

Daddy got home from work around 10:30. I missed him so much. I’m going to go spend some quality time with him right now. Good night!

Dear Journal,

Today mommy and daddy said I got to see what outside looked like! They put me in my stroller that Grandma and Grandpa Harasim got for me. It was so comfy!

We went for a walk outside and Bartok and Coppola even got to come. I pretty much slept the whole time so I’ll have to check out the world on my next ride.

Dear Journal,

That crib thing was a piece of cake! I only woke up once in the middle of the night and not because I was scared, I was just hungry. Mommy fed me and then put me back in my crib where I immediately went back to sleep. I knew I had to get a good rest because today I got to meet the rest of my family.

I got to meet Appleton yesterday. She was okay…she just sat in her cage and looked at me. She makes some loud noises every now and then, but she doesn’t bother me much. Mommy and daddy have been telling me about these things called “dogs” all week. Daddy went to pick up the dogs from Barkefellers. I guess they stayed there the whole time we were in the hospital. Mommy put me in my bouncy seat on the kitchen island and got me to sleep before those dogs came home.

As soon as they got home they ran to mommy…they were so happy to see her. She carried them over to the island so they could look at me. Once she put them down, they ran to their pillow by the sliding glass door and stared at the kitchen island up at my bouncy seat. They did not move AT ALL.

After about a half an hour I decided I wanted to meet my brother and sister. Daddy held me while mommy got the dogs to sit with her on the couch. Daddy brought me out and sat down with me. They wagged their tails and wanted to look at me. At one point Bartok even laid on top of me while daddy petted him. Then Coppola came up to investigate. We all did better than mommy and daddy thought! They even caught the moment on video so I can watch it when I get older.

Like mommy said, “I think we are all going to be a big happy family!”

Dear Journal,

Guess what? I got to come home today!! We woke up at the hotel and then mommy and daddy started packing. It took daddy a lot of trips to the car to get all our stuff in. While he was packing mommy decided to have a mini photo session with me. First she changed my diaper. Then she took pictures of me by one of the beautiful roses from Uncle Chris and Aunt Mindy. I did my best to pose for pictures.

Then, she put me in a going home outfit. It was a cute little white outfit with a matching hat. She told me that daddy picked it out for me a few months ago.

Before she put on my hat, she put a headband with a big white bow on my head and we had a photo session on the bed.

Then daddy came back and it was time to go!

They put me in my car seat for the first time and I didn’t even cry!

Good bye hospital, hello home!

I was great the whole way home. Mommy and daddy were both very impressed with my good behavior.

When we walked in the house daddy had a surprise for us. We he had come back to the house yesterday to take a shower he went and bought a dozen red roses and a balloon that said “I love you”. It was sitting on the kitchen island so it was the first thing we saw when we walked in the house. Mommy is super hormonal and it made her cry! I thought I was the one that was supposed to cry?

The rest of the day we just relaxed. Daddy took me on a tour of the house.

Then we all got in our pajamas and relaxed the night away.

We are all tired, but it will sure be nice to sleep in our own house tonight. Mommy and daddy said I am going to be a big girl and sleep in my own crib starting tonight. It may be a little scary…we’ll have to see how this goes! Wish me luck!
